Bonus word for both groups: nibble (verb) You nibble your food when you eat it with small bites.
A notice is coming home with your child today regarding the Christmas concert. The Christmas concert will be held on December 14, 2011 at 5:30p.m. In lieu of charging an admission fee for the concert we are asking that everyone bring a donation to the Food Bank.
Please remember that Denise is away with the bus tomorrow (Tuesday, November 29, 2011) for the day. You will need to arrange transportation to and from school for your child.

Hello and welcome to another wonderful week here at Whitehead Elementary School!
This week's spelling words are as follows:
Group #1: can, is, she, will, come, it, so, with, could and just.
Group #2: doesn't, it's, right, vacation, you've, don't, its, said, very and a lot.
Bonus word for both groups: monotone (noun) When you speak in a monotone, you don't use any expression in your voice.
On Thursday, November, 24, 2011, Denise needs to be away with the bus for the entire day. She is asking that parents make alternate arrangements to get their child to and from school. If you need help making arrangements please call the school at 662-7031. Thursday is also early dismissal, K-2 dismisses at 2:00p.m.; 3-5 at 2:20p.m. Please let us know who will be picking your child up at the end of the day.
This is also PINK WEEK at both GMCS and WHES. Stand up and STOP bullying.
We will also be travelling to GMCS on Friday for library, reading buddies, and to participate in some Pink Week activities.

Report cards will be sent home today, Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Parent/Teacher interviews will be taking place this week.
No school on Friday, November 18, 2011, for students. Teachers will be participating in professional development.

Group #2: before, I, play, were, big, if, put, what, but and I'm.
Bonus word for both groups is: inquire (verb) - When you inquire, you try to find out something by asking a question.
Spelling sentences: I would like both groups to use each of their spelling words in a complete sentence. Spelling test and sentences will be due this week on Thursday, November 10, 2011, as there is no school on Friday, November 11, 2011.

Bonus word for both groups: rambunctious (adjective) - When you act wild and noisy, you are being rambunctious.
Flat Stanley: We have received our Flat Stanley's from our pen pals in the UK. Students need to write their return letters, and include pictures and/or drawings with their letters, so that we can get them sent back. I would like to have them by Friday, November 4, 2011.
No homework folder this week!

Group #1- before, getting, one, thought, whether, buy, governor, our, threw, and who.
Group #2 - now, too, as, have,of, two,asked, he, on and up.
Bonus word for both groups: pounce (verb)- You pounce when you jump on something suddenly.
I would like students to use each spelling word from their list in a complete sentence. Then they are to do some word work and find as many smaller words in each of their spelling words as they can.
There is no school for students on Friday, October 21, 2011, as teachers are travelling to the mainland for meetings.
